Comptroller Speaks Before NCRC
Comptroller Thomas J. Curry, speaking before the National Community Reinvestment Coalition Annual Conference on March 12, discussed how national banks and federal savings associations can more effectively serve the credit needs of rural communities, especially those that are economically distressed. During his remarks, he mentioned changes to the Interagency Community Reinvestment Act Questions and Answers that were finalized in November. He said that he hopes the changes will lead banks that have been responsive to community development needs and opportunities in their assessment area(s) to consider more opportunities to lend and invest in rural communities located in the broader statewide and regional areas that are outside of their assessment areas. The Comptroller’s full remarks are available on the OCCnet.
