Lawrence E. Beard
Deputy Comptroller
Licensing
Larry Beard has served as the Deputy Comptroller for Licensing in the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), since April 2004.
In this role, he oversees the agency's licensing function in Washington, D.C., headquarters and its four district offices. He is responsible for licensing
national banks and their activities and structure changes that support a safe and sound national banking system.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Beard served as the Assistant Deputy Comptroller for the St. Louis Field Office from 1997 to 2002 and assumed
responsibility for the Evansville, Indiana, satellite office from 2002 to 2004. As the Assistant Deputy Comptroller, he supervised a portfolio of
midsized and community banks. In addition to holding numerous managerial and bank supervision positions, Mr. Beard led several task forces.
Mr. Beard joined the OCC in 1974 as a Financial Intern in bank examinations in Kansas City, Missouri, and surrounding suburbs. Upon graduating
from college, he remained with the OCC as an Assistant National Bank Examiner.
Mr. Beard has a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Rockhurst College in Kansas City, Missouri.
