Bajinder Paul Named Chief Information Officer at the OCC

WASHINGTON — Comptroller of the Currency John C. Dugan announced today that he has named Bajinder Paul to be the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency’s next Chief Information Officer.

Mr. Paul will succeed Jackie Fletcher, who will retire in January 2008 after 37 years of federal service, including six years with the OCC.

“Bajinder brings a great deal of talent and proven experience to the OCC,” Mr. Dugan said. “He’s the ideal person to continue Jackie’s fine work in modernizing OCC’s information technology environment to support our mission of ensuring the safety and soundness of the national banking system.”

Mr. Paul is currently acting as the Chief Information Officer at the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), while continuing to serve as Deputy CIO for IT Operations. Prior to his appointment at HUD, he served as the Manager of Software Development at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Mr. Paul has more than 20 years of federal and private sector experience leading complex programs, organizations, and infrastructures. He is a member of the Senior Executive Service and holds a bachelor of science in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University and a master of science in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins.

He will join the OCC in mid-October and will work closely with Ms. Fletcher to ensure a smooth transition.
