Grovetta Gardineer Named Deputy Comptroller for Compliance Policy

WASHINGTON — Grovetta Gardineer was named Deputy Comptroller for Compliancy Policy at the Office of the Comptroller of Currency.

In this role, Ms. Gardineer will be responsible for OCC policy and examination procedures relating to consumer issues and anti-money laundering and will take on this role beginning on February 28, 2011.

"Grovetta brings strong leadership and expertise to her new position and is well suited to manage the Compliance Policy Division and our work related to the evolving landscape for consumer protection and other compliance initiatives under the Dodd-Frank Act," said Senior Deputy Comptroller Tim Long.

Ms. Gardineer has more than 22 years of experience in bank supervision and regulation, and she joins the OCC from the Office of Thrift Supervision. Since 2008, she has served as the Managing Director for Corporate and International Activities at the OTS. She joined the OTS in 2006 as the Managing Director for Supervision Policy, where she was responsible for capital policy, credit risk, trust operations, accounting policy, and information technology risk assessment. Prior to joining the OTS, Grovetta spent several years as an attorney with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation handling enforcement actions and preparing policies and regulations affecting the financial services industry.

"We are pleased that Grovetta is being promoted into the executive ranks at the OCC, underscoring the wide ranging opportunities that will be available to OTS staff joining our ranks during 2011," Mr. Long said.

Ms. Gardineer holds a juris doctor, cum laude, from North Carolina Central University and a bachelor of arts from Wake Forest University.
