Foreclosure Prevention Overview

Although mortgage foreclosure filings and seriously delinquent mortgages have decreased from the historically high levels of the past decade, significant problems remain in many areas. Foreclosures and serious delinquencies cause high levels of economic stress for mortgage servicers, investors, and borrowers, and threaten the stability of neighborhoods. This directory is intended as a resource for portfolio lenders and mortgage servicers working to reduce the incidence of foreclosures in their servicing portfolios. The OCC hopes the resource directory is also useful for borrowers working to avoid foreclosure, the counseling organizations that assist these borrowers, and other entities interested in reducing foreclosures.

The contents of this foreclosure prevention resource directory are organized into the following categories.

Resources on Loan Modication, Refinance, and Foreclosure Avoidance Program
