Dilip Patro is the Deputy Director of the Market Risk Analysis Division of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC).

Dr. Patro joined the OCC as a Senior Financial Economist in 2006 and was appointed as the Lead Expert in the Market Risk Analysis Division of the OCC in 2009. Dr. Patro was appointed as the Deputy Director of the Market Risk Analysis Division in 2012.

Before joining the OCC, Dr. Patro was an Assistant Professor of Finance at Rutgers University from 1997 to 2005. During 2001 and 2002, Dr. Patro was also a visiting Assistant Professor of Finance at University of Maryland. Dr. Patro has taught courses in international banking and capital markets, investment analysis and management, empirical finance and corporate finance to doctoral, MBA, and undergraduate students. Dr. Patro has published many papers in refereed scholarly journals, including the Journal of Financial Research, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Business, Journal of Empirical Finance and Journal of Financial Stability.

At the OCC, Dr. Patro serves as a market-risk modeling expert participating in exams at large national banks in reviewing and evaluating models used for derivatives pricing, market risk, and counter party credit risk management, stress testing and regulatory capital calculations. He also represents the OCC in various policy initiatives related to activities of the Basel Committee, including work on the Macroprudential Supervision and Financial Stability Board’s Data Gaps Group.

Dr. Patro has a bachelor's degree in technology from IIT, India, a CFA charter, and a master's in business management and Ph.D. in finance from the University of Maryland at College Park.
