Jeffrey J. Geer is the Acting Deputy Comptroller and Chief Accountant at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC).
In this role, Mr. Geer serves as the OCC's authoritative source for bank accounting and financial reporting and provides accounting counsel to OCC examiners, the banking industry, and the accounting profession. He assumed this role in June 2020.
Previously, Mr. Geer was the OCC's Associate Chief Accountant. He served as a senior technical official on matters related to accounting, auditing, internal controls, financial disclosure, and regulatory reporting.
Mr. Geer joined the OCC in July 2011 after the integration of Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS) and the OCC. Before joining the OCC, Mr. Geer served as the OTS Chief Accountant from August 2004 to July 2011 and served as the OTS Southeast Regional Accountant and Capital Markets Manager. He began his supervisory career at the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta (later OTS) in 1988. He began his professional career as an auditor in the Atlanta office of KPMG.
Mr. Geer graduated from Clemson University with a bachelor's degree in accounting. He is a certified public accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
