Johnny Stanley

Deputy Comptroller for East and Northeast Regions

Johnny Stanley is the Deputy Comptroller for East and Northeast Regions of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC).

In this role, Mr. Stanley oversees the supervision of more than 200 community banks and federal savings associations. He manages a staff of more than 350 bank examiners and other professional and support personnel located in offices in Detroit, Michigan; Indianapolis, Indiana; Louisville, Kentucky; Ohio; Massachusetts; New Jersey; New York; Pennsylvania; and Washington, D.C. He took on these duties in November 2022.  

Mr. Stanley served as the Acting Deputy Comptroller for Human Capital from April 2024 through March 2025. In this role, Mr. Stanley served as a policy advisor and provided executive leadership and direction on human capital management, compensation and benefits programs, accountability, human resources information systems, strategic recruitment, continuing education management, human resources operations, employment policy, and labor and employee relations. He also ensured that the OCC met federal government statutory, regulatory and policy requirement.

Mr. Stanley joined the OCC in 2008 as an Assistant National Bank Examiner in Cleveland. He served as the Associate Deputy Comptroller for the Northeastern District and as an Assistant Deputy Comptroller in the San Francisco Field Office for several years after graduating from the OCC’s LeaderTRACK program.

Mr. Stanley earned his bachelor of science degree in political science from Bethany College, and a master’s in business administration from the University of Phoenix. He is also a Certified Accredited Mortgage Professional and became a commissioned National Bank Examiner in 2013.
