Chartering, Organization and Structure (COS) is responsible for ensuring that the corporate structure of national banks and Federal savings associations is established and maintained in accordance with the principles of a safe and sound U.S. banking system as predicated by law and regulation. COS renders independent decisions supported by a sound record of facts and comprehensive financial, supervisory and legal analyses. These principles are applied throughout the life of a national bank and federal savings association.
